TomYam Lovers!!

Have you heard of Eiman's Tom Yam House ?

For those staying in TTDI Jaya, you must have at least heard of them. Yup, from the name itself you can know that they are specialising in Tom Yam. Open daily from 10am to 12 midnight.

We first came here sometime last Ramadhan for our iftar. Almost everyday we noticed that they are full and packed with customers, walk in and off the restaurant. When we first step in, we thought that it must be one of the expensive restaurants as the interior looks cosy and nicely done. They even have a corner of waterfall at the back of the restaurant.  As far as we know, only luxury restaurant have that kind of interior! But....we were wrong this time!

You have plenty of choices here. From plain rice with many types of side dish up to ala carte menu you can choose from. Taste? Delicious and I'm sure that will not be the last time you came there!

For Fried Rice; they have quite long list for just Fried Rice. For instance, Chinese Fried Rice, Tom Yam Fried Rice etc, which cost you between RM4.50 to RM6.50 per plate. There are also various types of mee such as fried mee, tom yam mee etc. You named it, they have most of it all!!

Their Tom Yam also number 1! Great taste! FYI, they have more than 20 choices of Tom Yam! All varies from seafood Tom Yam to Chicken or Meat Tom Yam. The Tom Yam aroma will definitely completed with the necessary fresh vegetables.

The waiter and waitress are very efficient in taking and serving your orders. They are quite friendly and very helpful.

Wait no more. You should try it yourself one day!

Zam Zam Restaurant, Arabic Cuisine

We received a wedding invitation from a friend, but unfortunately we couldn't be able to make it since we'll be having some other plan during that weekend. Since the wedding ceremony will be held at a special place that we've just heard about it, so we decided to make a try ourselves..hehe..

Arabic Food Spotted!
Off we went to Zam Zam Restaurant of Arabic Cuisine for dinner. It's a new restaurant, just started operating their business about a month ago. It's located in one of the new building named Oasis 9, in Seksyen 9 Shah Alam. We don't even know of the existence of Oasis 9 before, so it's quite new to us actually..For those first timer like us, the restaurant is located at the back lot of McD Seksyen 9, opposites of Plaza Massalam and Concorde Hotel.

Once we arrived, there were many other customers having meals. Some of them are Arabs or maybe Lebanese. But, don't be surprised that there are many Malays as well! Malaysians like to eat Arabic Cuisine I guess! Before making the order, we thought that we'll be spending quite a lot for dinner this time. Just look at the restaurant, looks like for high-end and the food must be expensive.

The waiter were very efficient, came within seconds bringing out the menu. After few minutes letting us to decide, came another man (the owner) asking for orders in Malay! Great! Surprisingly, the price is quite reasonable, more or less the same like other Arabic Cuisine we've been before in Shah Alam area.

Variety of foods being offered, from starter, salads, kebabs up to Mandy and Kabsa. Difficult to choose as all seems delicious and should give a try.
Lamb Kabsha

Chicken Mandy
Lastly, I decided to have Chicken Mandy while hubby opt for Lamb Kabsa. Mine costs RM18; consists of a place of Mandy Rice-quite a big portion, with half chicken! OMG,  spoil my diet! And for hubby, just RM15 for the same set except he's having the lamb. Both chicken and lamb were very soft and nicely cooked! Oh yes, they serve the rice with a small plate of sauce and yogurt. Nyum nyum!

Chicken Mandy (above) & Lamb Kabsha

As we look around, we noticed that they also offer a big plate of rice, which can be shared with 2-3 people. Practical for those we don't eat much and cannot finish the meal alone. Mind you, when I say the portion is big, it is big..hehe

The restaurant interior was quite exclusive and nice. Oh yes, they also have another special place for those VIPs or for those having parties or wedding ceremony-like what will be held in 2 weeks. The big hall is located on the upper floor.

For drinks, we had normal drinks only. Quite expensive for the drinks-juice for about RM10-15, whereby the cheapest drink you can find costs you RM4! hoho..

Overall, very nice restaurant. Taste? Delicious & Great!! Not bad at all! Wanna know how much did we spent this time?

It's RM42! Quite cheap to compare with any other Arabic Restaurant. Btw, can you noticed something from the receipt? There's no service tax or GST! That's good!

So, why not you give it a try yourself.

To all Beriani lovers!

As promised earlier, here goes another choice of restaurant for those Beriani lovers!

(ii) Nasi King Briyani

We had our dinner there few days ago. Located in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam. Next to the Chinese Muslims Restaurant Al Munawarah.
Chicken Beriani Gam @ Nasi King Briyani

I think this restaurant has the cheapest Beriani Rice we have ever met so far. Chicken Beriani Gam is only RM9.90! At first, we didn't noticed the cheap price yet, until we found out that if we buy only the Beriani Rice, you just have to pay RM3.90! Others sell at RM5+. Isn't that cheap!

Furthermore, they serve in a quite big plate. Big plate means more rice! Yes, you read it right! Plenty of rice, but you only pay quite cheap to compare with other restaurants of Beriani Rice.

Taste? Also average. The chicken sauce is not as we expected. They also offers other dishes like plain rice, a la carte menu etc.

Cheap & Delicious : Ukhuwah

If you happen to be in Petaling Jaya (PJ) State area, you should come and have a try in this restaurant: Ukhuwah Restoran Rakyat, which means Peoples' Restaurant. Located in PJ State, near the Dewan Sivik. Same row with Perodua Sales and also Bank Rakyat.

Usually had my lunch here, which cost me not more than RM5 in average! Well, it depends on what you eat actually, but I'm sure you cannot get that CHEAP price anywhere else!

They have varieties of foods; such as Chicken Rice, Laksa, Mee or Mihun Soups beside their large choices of side dish to be serve with plain rice. Normally, with one side dish of chicken for instance, one vege with plain rice will only cost you RM3-3.50!

Laksa - RM2.50!
Chicken Rice - RM4!
Drinks - RM1.20!

What I normally had for lunch is 2 diff vege & 1 dish of spicy paru (lung?) and plain water. Can you guess how much is that? It's only RM3!!! Wah, I can definitely save a lot!!

Besides, the most interesting part is that, they have a special promotion which lasts forever! It's Roti Canai & Teh Tarik for only RM1!!!

Currently, they have been operated in 3 different places such as Medan Tuanku in KL and also in Perak besides the one in PJ. No wonder they have been awarded the Fair Price Shops Award. Keep up to good work for the benefit of us..hmm...ME included!

I recommend you guys to come here and taste it yourself!

Chinese Muslims Restaurant Al Munawarah

Al Munawarah..no no..it's not about tudung.

It's Al-Munawarah Chinese Muslim Restaurant. It is located in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam behind the Concorde Hotel. Alhamdulillah, the food was great with quite reasonable price!

We had plain rice with Kam Heong Chicken, Fuyung Egg and Claypot Tofu. There are many other types of food you can choose; from various types of mee or rice to many other ala carte dishes. It is worth a try! We don't even know there is such a restaurant like this in Shah Alam. The only one that we had before was in KL,  the Cheng Ho Restaurant belongs to Amy Search.

Claypot Tofu

Kam Heong Chicken

Fuyung Egg

Delicious!

Try it yourself!

Calling all fans of Beriani Rice!

For those in Shah Alam, looking for a place to have Beriani Rice, you still have plenty choices of place to try! We're not a fan of them actually, but lately we have the interest to get the very first taste of some restaurants new to us.

(i) Bariani Pak Anjang

The taste is average, not that bad. Located in Seksyen 13, Shah Alam next to Nasi Arab restaurant.

They serve the original Johor Bariani Rice. A set consists of a plate of Bariani, chicken sauce, and dalca. Price? More or less the same like JM Bariani. As far we know, based on the interior they have been operated for years. Plus, they also have offer for catering purposes.

Will update soon for another place of Beriani in Shah Alam

Nasi Ayam Penyet API

I've just had my very first taste of Ayam Penyet last night at Seksyen 9, Shah Alam. It's Ayam Penyet API - with its tagline..simply the best..blazing hot, smashed..

For those first timer, the recipe was actually originated from Surabaya, Indonesia. The special is that the fresh chicken was marinated with various herbs and spices and will then be smashed and fried. The set of Ayam Penyet includes some tempe and fried beancurd, boiled kangkung, cabbage and not forgetting the hot sambal belacan and its crunchy brown fried fritter.

Ayam Penyet Set..

Overall, nice food although the chilli ie sambal belacan was really really hot! Pity Maryam, accidentally eat the plain rice with some chilli in it, causing tears and watery nose..huhuh...

Looks like you can make it yourself at home, isn't it? Fried chicken, sambal belacan and just few simple boiled vege..hhmm...maybe I'll try myself one fine day...

# Ani Sup Utara Shah Alam #

Had our buffet buka puasa at Ani Sup Utara Shah Alam, just for a change. Today marked as our first Ramadhan buffet for this year..We don't really favour to go for a buffet for a few reasons.

One is definitely because the price that we paid is totally way too much than what we can eat, especially during Ramadhan. It is such a waste, as normally after we break fast, we can't just eat. After eating some kuih-muih, had some drinks, and that's it. I'm full already! The other reason is we tend to over eat! Do you know why? Since we already paid for a sum amount that we know it is too much, we tend to eat and eat and eat to make sure it is worth the money that we paid! Hoho..over eating is not good for our health and it is definitely will make you tired and will disturb our concentration during our prayers.

But, Alhamdulillah, our first Ramadhan buffet was ok. Makan sekadar mana yang perlu dan tidak terlalu kenyang, Alhamdulillah. The food was nice, with varieties of food and the cost for each is quite reasonable, I guess. For adult is RM19.90 and children below 12 is RM8.90. We just paid for 2 as Maryam is just 2 yo. Plenty choices of lauk, varieties of kuih-muih, char kuey teow stall, ikan bakar stall, ais kacang stall and not to forget their main meals; soups!

There were so many people in the restaurant when we arrived, which is about 7pm. We didn't make any booking before coming, as it was a last minute decision really. All in all, everything was ok, not too bad. If you are lucky enough, you can still get a seat inside the restaurant although you do not book your seat. If not, you can still enjoy the food outside under their big tent.

Oh yes, another reason on why we don' really prefer for a Ramadhan buffet is that normally we have to 'terkejar-kejar' to eat and go back home for Maghrib prayer. Alhamdulillah, the reastaurant have the surau although they need to make it more comfortable for the guests.

So, for those interested to have a try of their Ramadhan Buffet, you can go to any of their outlets.
